A second booklet with 1938 Admiral Togo 4s green x10 with greenish cover intact. A third is the 1953 Buddha (Scott 580b) pane of 10 with 2 labels, front separated. Estimate HK$ 1,500 - 2,000. Children’s Book Week

This week is Children’s Book Week! From 13 May – 19 May, the Children’s Book Council is celebrating children’s books, and that includes Young Adult fiction. Throughout 50 cities across the United States, there will be many book event featuring multiple authors and illustrators that are all are open to the public.

I read a lot of train books because the toddler is obsessed with trains. Here are my favorites.

Freight Train (Donald Crews). The text is simple and the illustrations are lovely, the toddler can read it to me

The Little Engine That Could (Watty Piper). I remember this book from my childhood, a very cute story about helping and trying. It is fun to read because I put on voices for the

The Caboose Who Got Loose (Bill Peet). This is my favorite, the tale of Katy Caboose. It is told in rhyme and its super cute and imaginative. I love the emotion conveyed in the drawings.

Choo Choo (Virginia Lee Burton). “The story of a little engine who ran away,” the pictures are lovely, as is the story. Added bonus: the toddler’s name is Archie (the name of the conductor) and his brother is Oli (the name of the fireman).

The Little Train (Lois Lenski). This book follows very closely the text of Choo Choo before the storyline begins but I still like it because it describes how railroads work.

Two Little Trains (Margaret Wise Brown). This book is simply adorable, one page features a “real” train and the facing page features a “toy” train doing the same thing. Its simple, repetitive writing makes it perfect for a bed/nap-time story.

Since I have nothing better to do today so I’m also putting together a Listamania! list on Amazon for other caregivers in my predicament.
